Breganze Torcolato DOC, sweet passito wine, year 2013.

A fine dessert wine with ancient origins, traditionally produced in the Breganze area of Veneto.

It is made primarily from Vespaiola grapes, carefully selected. The best bunches are left to dry for several months, tied with string and twisted around beams—hence the name "Torcolato." A smaller amount of Garganega grapes is also added, giving the wine distinctive characteristics. The painstaking selection of bunches and individual berries is time-consuming, but it allows for a slow pressing that produces a refined and well-balanced wine.

Color: ranging from bright gold to amber.

Aroma: fruity and intense, with notes of honey, tropical fruits, apricot, and red citrus.

Palate: fresh and fruit-forward, full-bodied, elegant, delicate, and clean. The extended phenolic ripening enhances the aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, offering remarkable persistence. Excellent balance between acidity and sweetness.

Alcohol content: 13.0%.

Annual production: approximately 2,000 to 3,000 bottles.

Food pairings: an ideal meditation wine, also pairs well with dry pastries, foie gras canapés, and aged or blue cheeses.

Gallio is a producer of Torcolato di Breganze DOC (“controlled denomination of origin”), a straw and dessert wine produced using a traditional method. Gallio’s Torcolato has been the subject of many articles dedicated to enthusiasts and professionists in the sector, no doubt a sign of prestige for a producer.

Moreover, Torcolato traces its origins back to the eleventh century and has filled many pages of history with descriptions of how to obtain a good and genuine wine.

Although Gallio’s production is quite small, the company has received more than one prize in national and internation competitions, such as the Douja D’Or prize in Asti the IWCS 2012 gold medal in London, and the bronze medal at Bruxelles Wine Competition 2013.
