These orange cream crêpes with Modica chocolate bring together the elegance of French cuisine and the bold flavors of Southern Italy. With simple steps and easy-to-find ingredients like Modica orange chocolate, this dessert is perfect for both everyday treats and special occasions.
Ingredients for about 8 crêpes:
250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
500 ml (2 cups) whole milk
3 medium eggs
Butter for greasing
Zest of one organic orange or lemon
Orange cream
Modica chocolate with orange – Tipico Barocco
Preparing the batter
Whisk the eggs into the flour, then slowly add milk to create a smooth and lump-free batter. Let the mixture rest covered for at least 1 hour to enhance texture and consistency.
Heat a 20 cm (8-inch) non-stick skillet or crêpe pan and lightly grease it with butter. Pour in a ladleful of batter, spreading it evenly.
Filling and finishing the crêpes
Once the bottom is golden, flip the crêpe and cook the other side. Spread a thin layer of orange cream on half, fold over, repeat, and fold again to form a triangle. Top with grated Modica chocolate, citrus zest, and optionally a dollop of whipped cream.
